Winchester's competitor to the AR-15, the Lightweight Military Rifle, sometimes just WLR or WLMR or WLWMR. Whatever the acronym, it is a ~5 lb. rifle chambering .224 Winchester from a 20 round magazine. The gun is select fire and went head to head against Armalite's rifle in US Army testing. Although the Army recommended some changes, Winchester dropped the project and did not pursue a version for the commercial market.
